Romania national team head coach Mircea Lucescu was urgently hospitalized after losing consciousness during the national team's morning training session. The incident sparked panic among the staff, and according to sources within the federation, there is even a possibility it was a heart attack.
Immediately after the incident, Lucescu received first aid, and two ambulance teams quickly arrived at the scene. He was promptly transported to a hospital for a detailed examination and further observation.
The Romanian Football Federation has announced that the coach's condition has now been stabilized. Official reports indicate that the veteran coach began feeling unwell during a technical meeting ahead of the team's final training session before their trip to Slovakia.
In light of the situation, Lucescu's participation in the upcoming friendly against Slovakia is virtually ruled out. The match, scheduled for Tuesday, could have been the final one in the seasoned coach's career, but now the team will most likely travel without him.
At this time, Lucescu remains under doctors' supervision, and his further involvement with the squad will depend on the results of medical examinations. It should be noted that the 80-year-old Romanian specialist is the oldest national team coach in football history.
