World football stands on the brink of historic change.
Details: According to The Guardian, FIFA is developing a new protocol that will allow national leagues to stage one match per season outside their own country.
This initiative aims to take the globalization of football to a whole new level, giving fans around the world the chance to attend top-flight league matches in their own regions.
Implementing this idea will require a complex, multi-tiered approval system. Any application to move a fixture must be approved by the national associations of the participating clubs, their respective confederations, as well as the football authorities of the host country, before finally being submitted to FIFA for a final decision.
This strict regulation is designed to resolve the issues faced by Barcelona and Villarreal, as well as AC Milan and Como last year, when their attempts to organize such matches abroad fell through due to a lack of clear regulations.
FIFA plans to approve and launch this protocol by the start of next season, with the finer details set to be discussed at the upcoming working group meeting.
Reminder: Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick delivered disappointing news regarding the recovery of Barcelona winger Raphinha.
