Pogba's lawyers want a reduced sentence. A player may retire early

It's concerning to hear that Juventus winger and French national team player Paul Pogba tested positive for doping in August after a Serie A match against Udinese (3-0). The test revealed an elevated level of testosterone, leading to his temporary disqualification pending a court decision. If proven guilty of using banned substances, he faces a four-year suspension. Considering that Pogba will turn 31 next year, this could likely mark the end of his career.
However, Pogba's legal representatives are not conceding defeat and are striving to reduce the punishment to two years, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. If Pogba, who has returned to the club after six years at Manchester United, is handed a lengthy sentence,Juventus will likely terminate his contract.
Since rejoining Juventus last season, Pogba has faced significant limitations in playing time due to injuries. In the 2022/23 season, he accumulated a total of 161 minutes on the field, and in the current season, just 52 minutes before his disqualification.
Pogba anticipates a hearing on the doping case in January 2024, during which the prosecution aims to impose a four-year ban on the midfielder. Regardless of whether he receives a two or four-year suspension, it's improbable that we'll see Pogba don the Juventus jersey again.
