Yesterday, it was officially confirmed that Barcelona’s primary goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, will miss the remainder of the current season due to a severe injury. However, the club has already formulated a plan to replace the German keeper.
Details: According to Diario Sport, if coach Hansi Flick requests the signing of a new goalkeeper immediately, the club will begin negotiations with one of the free agents available. In this scenario, Barcelona is considering two former Real Madrid goalkeepers—Keylor Navas and Antonio Adán.
However, the most likely course of action is that backup keeper Iñaki Peña will step in as the starting goalkeeper until January. If the 25-year-old Spaniard’s performance does not meet the coaching staff's expectations, Barcelona will enter the transfer market during the winter window.
For such a scenario, Barcelona has identified three primary options: Álex Vallejo from Las Palmas, Guillaume Restes from Toulouse, and Stole Dimitrievski from Valencia.
Reminder: It was also revealed yesterday that ter Stegen aims to follow the path of Thibaut Courtois from last season and return for the final matches of the campaign.
