The International Cricket Council has officially confirmed and published the exact dates for the upcoming ODI-format Cricket World Cup, which will take place in 2027.
Details: The flagship event of the four-year cycle will kick off on October 4, and the world will learn the name of the new holder of the planet's most prestigious trophy in the grand final showdown set for November 21, 2027.
The World Cup will be hosted by three African nations, and the organizers have already allocated the preliminary match schedule among the host countries. South Africa will shoulder the lion's share of the tournament, with at least 41 matches, including all key playoff games, set to be played at its stadiums. Zimbabwe is preparing to host between 8 and 10 group stage fixtures. Namibia will make a historic debut: three World Cup matches will be played on its soil, giving cricket a huge boost in the country.
The competition format will differ from previous editions: teams will be split into two groups of seven, with the top three from each group advancing to the Super Six stage, which will determine the semifinalists.
Reminder: Hardik Pandya will miss the series against Afghanistan.
