The 20th round of the Irish Premier Division brings us a truly intriguing clash: Derry City host Bohemians.

A quick glance at the league table makes the favorite look pretty obvious. The visitors come into this fixture sitting second and have been one of the most consistent sides this season, while Derry are stuck in mid-table and have long been searching for their best form.
The teams went into the break with very different moods. Bohemians won four of their last six matches, scoring in almost every game. Alan Reynolds’ squad have hit their stride and would hardly have welcomed the pause, which came just as they were gaining momentum.
For Derry, the situation is quite the opposite. The Northerners are winless in several consecutive rounds, often settling for draws and struggling to convert their chances. Their last match before the break ended in a 1-2 defeat to Dundalk, adding even more pressure on the home side.
Interestingly, these teams have already met twice this season. In February, Bohemians snatched a win at Brandywell (1-0), while in May the sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. So the visitors hold a psychological edge, though there’s no reason to expect an easy evening in Derry.
I’m expecting a fairly cautious encounter. Derry desperately need points, while Bohemians know that a victory will keep them in the title race. Most likely, the match will be decided by one or two key moments, but current form still favors the visitors.
