Messi and Miami Shift Focus After Club World Cup

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami must quickly move past their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup experience and get back to business in Major League Soccer. Despite a heavy loss to PSG, the team made headlines by reaching the knockout stage, delivering the best Club World Cup performance ever by an MLS side.
As highlighted by AS USA, Inter proved competitive against the likes of Al-Ahly, Porto and Palmeiras. That momentum now faces a domestic test: two away matches in rapid succession—July 5 at CF Montréal and July 9 at New England Revolution.
Neither opponent has impressed this season. Montréal sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and New England is 11th. Inter, currently sixth with games in hand, sees this stretch as a crucial chance to climb the table.
With a month before the Leagues Cup kicks off, Messi, Suárez, Busquets and Alba will look to sharpen the team’s rhythm. Their opening match is against Atlas on July 30, followed by games against Necaxa and Pumas. The goal is clear: to recapture the title they won in 2023, at the start of a new era for the South Florida franchise.
