The first trailer is already online. Messi to star in Disney+ animated series
Lionel Messi is stepping beyond the football pitch — the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner will be the main character in a new Disney+ animated series, which is scheduled to premiere in 2027. The project is titled “Messi and the Giants” and is aimed primarily at a young audience.
The first trailer for the sports fantasy was unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Leo, who finds himself in an alternate reality and tries to find his way home. To do so, he will have to battle legendary giants, relying on his football skills, teamwork and determination.
According to the plot, the hero will take part in dangerous battles reminiscent of football matches. Using special “spheres,” he must defeat the giants and restore the shattered kingdoms of Iko.
Messi himself will serve as the series’ executive producer. The character inspired by the Argentine star will be voiced by actor Milo Burgess-Webb. The trailer also features the project’s original song, “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,” performed by Argentine singer Luck Ra.
