Lionel Messi simply refuses to slow down, and the historic 1,000-goal milestone is getting closer.

Details: The legendary Argentine forward delivered another brilliant performance for Inter Miami, scoring twice in a commanding 4-0 victory over DC United in MLS on October 10. With this brace, Messi has now reached an incredible 934 official career goals, leaving him just 66 away from the magical four-digit milestone.

The match was already going perfectly for the Florida club before Messi took center stage. His longtime teammate Luis Suárez scored twice in the first half, giving Inter Miami a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

Just two minutes after the restart, Messi made it 3-0, finishing a pass from Suárez inside the penalty area. Then, in the 60th minute, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner produced another moment of magic, dribbling past several defenders before calmly placing the ball into the net.

The Argentine's two goals completed the 4-0 rout and helped Inter Miami end a five-match winless streak in the league. The victory also lifted the defending champions into second place in the Eastern Conference.

It's worth noting that the 39-year-old Messi has already scored 23 goals in the 2026 MLS season. His career tally now stands at 934, while Cristiano Ronaldo has reached 980 official goals, leaving the Portuguese superstar just 20 away from the historic 1,000-goal mark.
