Messi's empire is growing! Argentine star acquires a second club in Spain
The legendary Argentine footballer continues to actively expand his own sports business empire across the Iberian Peninsula.
Details: Eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi has officially become the new owner of Spanish football club Eldense. The parties announced the news in an official statement following the final completion of the ownership transfer deal.
The team from the city of Elda, which competes in Spain's Segunda División, has become the second club in the Argentine's ownership portfolio. Messi previously acquired Catalan side UE Cornellà, laying the foundations for a fully fledged network of football assets in Spain.
The acquisition marks another important chapter for Eldense. The new leadership plans to invest resources in developing the club's infrastructure, improving its youth academy and strengthening its sporting potential to ensure steady progress in the country's second-tier division.
It is worth noting that Eldense is one of the oldest clubs in the Valencian Community, having been founded in 1921. Lionel Messi, meanwhile, continues to shine on the pitch for MLS side Inter Miami and has joined the select group of active footballers who own European clubs.
