Issa Balboné appointed Burkina Faso women's national team head coach

Previously in charge of the men’s Under-17 team, the Burkinabe coach will now lead the women’s Stallions.

Issa Balboné’s appointment as Pascal Sawadogo’s successor as head coach of the women’s national team was officially announced by the Burkinabe Football Federation in a statement published on social media on Tuesday 6 October.

“The Burkinabe Football Federation hereby informs the public and all stakeholders in national football that, following the application process to recruit a head coach for the Women’s Senior National Team, Issa BALBONÉ has been selected by the selection committee to take the reins of the team.”

According to the governing body of Burkinabe football, this appointment forms part of the reorganisation of the coaching staff for the various national teams. At the same time, the Federation also announced the appointment of Mamadou Zongo as head coach of the men’s Under-17 national team.

Mamadou Zongo thus succeeds Issa Balboné, who has taken charge of the women’s national team.
