Liverpool travelled to face Inter in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League and came away with a 1–0 victory — achieved without Mohamed Salah, a rarity in recent years.
Details: According to Opta, this is Liverpool’s first away win in the UEFA Champions League without their Egyptian winger since 2009. That match was also Jamie Carragher’s final European appearance for the club.
A controversial moment decided the outcome of the game. In the 87th minute, Liverpool was awarded a penalty against Inter. An Inter defender pulled Florian Wirtz by the shirt, causing the German midfielder to fall. The referees still awarded the penalty, which was successfully converted.
As a reminder: Mohamed Salah was left out of the squad for this match due to his remarks directed at head coach Arne Slot.
