Life after football has taken an unexpected turn for Max Tonetto. The former Roma and Italy national team defender has found himself in the spotlight after users spotted him on the Uber app—with dozens of rides and a flawless rating.
But there’s more to this move than meets the eye—behind it lies a well-thought-out business plan. It’s not about financial hardship or post-career failures. According to La Repubblica, the ex-footballer has launched his own chauffeur car rental company (NCC). However, to obtain all the necessary licenses and comply with Italian regulations, he needed real hands-on driving experience. That’s why Tonetto decided to get behind the wheel himself and start from the ground up—without any fanfare or bold statements.
Let’s not forget, the former defender, who played for Lecce, Sampdoria, and Roma, ended his career back in 2010, turning down a contract extension with the Roman club. In 2007, he also had the chance to don the Italy national team jersey—the very squad that had recently been crowned world champions.
