Alaba weighing up new club: battle for Real Madrid star breaks out across Europe
David Alaba remains without a club following the close of the transfer window, but the experienced Austrian defender is not short of offers. Several European clubs are already competing for the former Real Madrid player.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio are showing serious interest in the 34-year-old. The Rome club are considering signing Alaba as a free agent, although the player’s financial demands could prove to be the main stumbling block.
The Austrian is reportedly looking to earn around €3 million per year. His high salary could complicate negotiations and force Lazio to explore other options for strengthening their defence.
However, Lazio are not the only Serie A club interested in the experienced defender. Roma have also been monitoring Alaba in recent days and have already made contact with the former Real Madrid player’s representatives.
In addition to the Italian clubs, Manchester United and Barcelona are keeping tabs on the free agent. Therefore, despite the transfer window having closed, Alaba can still choose from several serious options for the next chapter of his career.
