The French Super Cup clash between PSG and Marseille will take place virtually without the support of either team's fans. No supporters will be traveling from France.
Details: The relocation of the heated "classique" outside of France means that neither Parisian nor Marseille fans will be present in the stands. According to Le Parisien, PSG's management offered their supporters an all-inclusive trip costing around 800 euros. However, due to a lack of interest, the club was forced to cancel the organized trip.
The high price tag and a packed schedule of away trips in recent months have cooled the enthusiasm of fans. As a result, not a single official trip from Paris will take place, and the team will have to rely on remote support. Only the PSG fan club from Lebanon is expected to attend.
The situation is similar for Marseille. Marseille ultras decided to boycott the match after meeting with the club's management at the end of December. Even though Marseille fans were offered a trip for 150 euros (with significant financial backing from the club), fan groups considered holding the game in Kuwait incompatible with the ultras culture.
As a result, the 60,000-seat Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium will be filled predominantly by local fans. The French Super Cup match will take place on Thursday, January 8, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Senegal international and PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye became the youngest goalscorer at the Africa Cup of Nations in the 21st century.
