Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi has voiced his dissatisfaction with the choice of venue for the French Super Cup.
Details: Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi has spoken out against staging the French Super Cup final outside of France. According to the Italian coach, the match should be played in its home country and in front of local supporters.
“I'll go to Kuwait because it's my job. But the venue concerns me. I believe this match should be played in its own country, in front of its fans, just like the Coupe de France final,” De Zerbi stated.
The coach emphasized that his stance has nothing to do with his feelings towards Kuwait or its local fans:
“This isn't a sporting or social issue. It's about economics, and that's what I don't like,” he added.
It should be noted that this year's final, featuring Ligue 1 champions PSG and Coupe de France winners Marseille, will take place in Kuwait. The match is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, with kick-off at 19:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Legendary former Marseille coach Jean-Louis Gasset has passed away.
