Tanzania exit the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup without a single point

The Tanzanian women suffered another heavy 6-0 defeat against Canada on Friday during the final matchday of the group stage.

It has been a painful experience for Tanzania at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. In their first-ever appearance in the tournament, the Tanzanian women were unable to keep up.

Their third and final group stage match on 11 September ended in another heavy defeat against Canada. The match began with an unfortunate own goal by Ester Makseke in the 7th minute, putting Canada 1–0 ahead.

However, the Tanzanian side did not concede any further goals until the end of the first half. The second half, however, proved difficult for Tanzania. Olivia Chisholm doubled Canada’s lead in the 49th minute, making it 2–0. Annabelle Chukwu scored twice to take the score to 4–0, before Kaylee Hunter and Liana Tarasco each scored a goal to seal Canada’s 6–0 victory.

With this third heavy defeat in the group stage, Tanzania bid farewell to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Poland 2026.
