Fernando da Cruz has identified a problem Kaizer Chiefs can no longer afford to ignore.

Details: The Kaizer Chiefs head coach has admitted that his squad lacks experience in certain positions and could require reinforcements during the January transfer window. However, the French specialist stressed that the club will not sign players simply to increase squad numbers.

Speaking to reporters through Julien Le Heran, who translated his comments from French into English, Da Cruz explained:

“We have time; we still have two months of competition before January. We don’t recruit just to recruit players. If we recruit players, it is to add value to the squad. So it’s very important.”

The coach also explained why bringing in experienced footballers could be essential:

“We know that in some positions we lack experience, and we need experienced players to help our talented players to grow and develop themselves and to support them everyday in training and during games.”

Kaizer Chiefs were active during the previous transfer window, bringing in several new players. The Soweto giants also completed the signing of South African international winger Elias Mokwana on a free transfer this week.

It is worth noting that Kaizer Chiefs finished third in the South African Betway Premiership last season. However, the club has already been eliminated from both the MTN 8 Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup this campaign.
