Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, currently on loan at Bayern Munich, has lost the opportunity to be bought out by the German club for the previously agreed sum of €65 million.
According to Abendzeitung Munich, the buyout clause would have been triggered if Jackson had played 40 matches in the Bundesliga and Champions League—either starting or featuring for at least one half per game. So far, the forward has made just 14 official appearances, with only five starts (four in the Bundesliga and one in the Champions League).
This means Jackson currently only meets the automatic buyout criteria in six matches. Bayern have a maximum of 22 league games and 12 more in the Champions League left (if they reach the playoffs), but the Senegalese striker will miss at least one fixture due to the Africa Cup of Nations, and depending on how far his national team progresses, that number could rise to four. As a result, Bayern can no longer trigger the automatic purchase clause for Jackson from Chelsea.
