Inter wanted to bring Mourinho back. Here’s why the idea is impossible

Inter fans hold warm memories of José Mourinho, the Portuguese mastermind who led the Nerazzurri to a historic treble 15 years ago. The architect of the 2010 triumph seemed poised for a sensational return to San Siro, but for now, that dream remains out of reach.
Details: According to La Repubblica, Inter’s management considered the 'Special One' as a successor to Simone Inzaghi after Cesc Fàbregas turned down the offer. However, Mourinho’s contract with Fenerbahçe, his current club, made the move unfeasible.
The sticking point lies in the hefty buyout clause embedded in Mourinho’s agreement with the Turkish side — a figure that remains undisclosed, but proved too steep for Inter to pursue. After the plan to bring Mourinho back fell through, the Nerazzurri board turned their attention to Cristian Chivu, who is now considered the leading candidate to take charge of the reigning Serie A runners-up.
Recall: After losing the Champions League final 0-5, Inzaghi left Inter and took over at Saudi side Al Hilal.
