It seems Liverpool needs to be much more selective when it comes to their transfer targets.
Details: In an interview with The Athletic, 48-year-old former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher launched a scathing critique of the Reds' transfer policy and voiced his dissatisfaction with the performances of 26-year-old Swedish striker Alexander Isak.

In Carragher's view, Liverpool spent far too much money on questionable and illogical signings, including Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak:
"I've just never been able to understand the Isak transfer.
Liverpool has always been the kind of club that would buy the next Isak—that is, someone like Ekitike. So I don't see the point of then going out and buying Isak himself.
I just can't see how you fit a £125m striker and a £69m striker into the same squad." Carragher said.
Alexander Isak cost Liverpool a staggering £145 million, which the club paid to Newcastle for his transfer. However, Isak's stats at Liverpool have been, to put it mildly, underwhelming: 16 matches, just 3 goals, and 1 assist.
Currently, the Swedish forward is undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a serious leg fracture in December 2025 during a match against Tottenham.
As for Florian Wirtz, he joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for €125 million, but his stats this season are also unimpressive: 30 matches, 4 goals, and 7 assists.
Previously, Jamie Carragher also harshly criticized Liverpool star Mohamed Salah following his clash with head coach Arne Slot.
