Masterpiece! Ronald Araujo delivers incredible backheel assist against Atletico Madrid. VIDEO
Ronald Araujo produced a piece of pure magic at Anfield.
Details: Liverpool found themselves trailing Atletico Madrid in their Champions League opener after Marcos Llorente put the visitors ahead, but the Reds managed to respond before the break. The equaliser came after a spectacular piece of improvisation from Ronald Araujo, who set up Dominik Szoboszlai with a brilliant backheel assist.

Araujo received the ball in the attacking phase and, rather than choosing the obvious option, used his heel to redirect it into Szoboszlai's path. The Hungarian midfielder completed the move and made it 1-1, sending Anfield into celebration.
The episode was particularly striking because Araujo is primarily known for his defensive qualities. Against Atletico, however, the Uruguay international showed that he can also make a decisive contribution at the opposite end of the pitch.
The Champions League encounter is Liverpool's first match of the 2026/27 league phase. Araujo started on the right side of the defence, with Andoni Iraola again taking advantage of the defender's versatility.
It is worth noting that Araujo joined Liverpool on loan from Barcelona in August 2026 for the entire 2026/27 season. The 27-year-old Uruguay international wears No.33 for the Reds and can operate both at centre-back and right-back.
Reminder: Oh no! Liverpool leader missed training. Is it serious?
