Georges Mandjeck brings his professional career to an end
The Cameroonian midfielder, who won the 2017 African Cup of Nations with the Indomitable Lions, is hanging up his boots at the age of 37.
A chapter in the history of Cameroonian football is coming to a close. Georges Mandjeck, who made his professional debut in Cameroon before moving to Europe, has represented several clubs. His career has been punctuated by trophies. A free agent since the summer of 2024, the Cameroonian, who has 53 caps for the Indomitable Lions, has decided to bring his career to an end.
All my life, I’ve lived for football. The training sessions, the sacrifices, the victories, the doubts. This sport has shaped me. It taught me discipline, rigour, mental strength. My last match. That was two years ago. I injured my knee that day. I didn’t know then… that it would be my last. And then there was silence. With time, I came to realise something. A career doesn’t last a lifetime. A vision, however, can last forever. Today, I am making an important decision. I am turning the page. Without regret. With pride. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, stood by me, and pushed me to become better. You have been part of this journey. But deep down. I know this isn’t the end. It’s a new beginning.
