Julián Álvarez is slowly opening the door to a Premier League return.

Details: According to AS, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have maintained frequent contact with the Argentine striker throughout the summer as the Gunners continue to monitor his situation at Atlético Madrid.

Álvarez still considers Barcelona his preferred destination and would rather remain in Spain. However, the difficulties surrounding a potential agreement with Atlético have forced the forward to reconsider the alternative offered by Arsenal.

AS reports that the 26-year-old had previously rejected the possibility of joining the English champions, but his position is beginning to soften. Arsenal are now viewed by the player as a possible emergency solution if his desired move to Barcelona cannot be completed before the transfer window closes.

The London club have been working on the transfer for some time, with Arteta and Berta personally keeping the communication channel open. Álvarez is reportedly attracted by Arsenal's sporting project, although returning to England has not been his priority because he and his family are comfortable living in Spain.

It is worth noting that Álvarez remains an Atlético Madrid player. Since joining the Spanish club from Manchester City in 2024, the Argentine has scored 49 goals in 106 appearances for Atlético.
