Darwin Núñez is getting a fresh start in Saudi Arabia.

Details: Al Diriyah have officially confirmed the signing of 27-year-old Uruguay international Darwin Núñez from Al Hilal on a season-long loan. The striker will spend the 2026/27 campaign with the newly promoted Saudi Pro League side after leaving Al Hilal temporarily.

The move brings an end, at least for one season, to Núñez's difficult spell at Al Hilal. The Uruguayan had fallen down the attacking pecking order and will now have the opportunity to secure regular playing time with Al Diriyah.

According to reports surrounding the agreement, the loan does not include an option to buy. Núñez therefore remains an Al Hilal player and is expected to return to the club once the temporary deal expires, unless the parties agree on another solution.

Núñez joined Al Hilal from Liverpool in August 2025. It is worth noting that last season the Uruguayan forward made 24 appearances for the Saudi giants across all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists.

Reminder: Return to Barcelona? The Catalans could land the star for free
