Chelsea's Cole Palmer aims to trademark his signature "ice-cold" goal celebration
Chelsea player Cole Palmer is looking to trademark his iconic goal celebration, according to The Sun. The footballer has filed an application with the UK Intellectual Property Office to secure the exclusive rights to his signature gesture.
Palmer plans to use his trademarked celebration for promoting a wide range of products, including food, alcohol, clothing, dietary beverages, toys, cosmetics, automobiles, and more, as outlined in the application.
The celebration, characterized by a "cold" gesture, was originally performed by Palmer’s former Manchester City academy teammate Morgan Rogers. Despite its origin, Palmer has made it his own and intends to ensure no one else can claim or replicate it.
The Chelsea star has been capitalizing on his rising popularity. Recently, he signed a deal with Burberry, becoming the face of the brand's new clothing collection.
Palmer isn’t the first footballer to trademark a goal celebration. Gareth Bale and Kylian Mbappé have also secured rights to their iconic moves, while players like David Beckham (DB07 and DB23) and Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) have trademarked their brands as part of their global appeal.
