Sky Sports reporter and openly gay journalist Mark McAdam has sparked controversy by accusing a footballer, who declined to support LGBTQ+ rights, of infidelity, Daily Mail reports.
McAdam made his remarks after Sam Morsy, citing religious beliefs, declined to wear a rainbow captain’s armband during the recent Premier League round. The journalist claimed there is another player who similarly refuses to support LGBTQ+ equality while allegedly cheating on his wife.
“Recent events have reminded me of another player who wouldn't support LGBTQ+ equality because of his religious beliefs. It's funny though, because those same religious beliefs allowed him to cheat on his wife every week,” McAdam posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Sam Morsy, the Ipswich captain, was the only Premier League leader who refused to wear the rainbow armband as part of the league’s Rainbow Laces campaign to promote inclusivity and equality.
McAdam, who came out as gay in 2014, remains the only openly gay journalist at Sky Sports.
