In an unexpected development, after a tumultuous time characterized by growing fan pressure and discontent with the club's atmosphere, Ricardo Sá Pinto has formally resigned as head coach of Raja Casablanca. Following Raja's game against Union Touarga on Thursday night, the news was made.
The Portuguese coach did not hold back in his post-match statements, highlighting the challenges he faced during his tenure:
“I have never experienced such pressure in my entire career. My staff and I cannot continue under these circumstances. It’s impossible to work alone and remain optimistic throughout the season,” Sá Pinto remarked.
He also criticized the lack of support and the strained relationship with the club’s fans:
“I am a coach who values being close to supporters; that’s my way of working. But now, we’ve reached a breaking point. I understand that the fans no longer want me at Raja.”
After discussions with Raja's management, both parties agreed to terminate Sá Pinto’s contract amicably. A difficult term came to an end on Friday when the club acknowledged the decision.
Until the club selects a permanent coach for the 2025 campaign, Raja Casablanca's former player Hafid Abdessadek will serve as the interim coach to ensure everything continues as planned.
After some challenging times, Raja Casablanca wants to feel more secure, thus this decision represents a fresh start for them. As the squad prepares for what is ahead, supporters anticipate witnessing rapid progress.
