Everton and Manchester United drew 2-2 in their third-round Premier League clash. The hosts avoided defeat in stoppage time thanks to a fantastic goal from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Brian Mbeumo opened the scoring to put Manchester United ahead. However, Everton managed to respond, with George restoring parity. The Red Devils then regained the lead late in the match. In the 88th minute, Benjamin Šeško fired the ball into the Toffees’ net, putting the visitors within touching distance of victory. It looked as though the visitors would hold on to their narrow advantage, but the hosts had one final chance.

In the sixth minute of added time, Maitland-Niles decided to try his luck from distance and executed the effort to perfection. The ball ended up in the net and the stadium erupted with emotion as Everton snatched a draw from Manchester United literally in the final seconds.

For Maitland-Niles, the goal was a particularly memorable moment. The former Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Ipswich Town player returned to England from French club Lyon and marked his very first appearance for Everton with a genuine masterpiece.
