A Sheffield Wednesday supporter, Brandon Pedrick, who mocked the death of former Sheffield United player George Baldock during the Steel City Derby, may face job termination, according to the Daily Mail.
During the match, cameras captured Pedrick in the stands holding a phone displaying an outrageous message: "Where’s Baldock?". This message was a reference to the death of the ex-Blades player, who was found dead in his Athens home on October 9.
Following this incident, South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Wednesday launched an investigation. Pedrick, who is currently employed by River Stewardship Co, now risks losing his job. He previously studied surveying, earning his degree from the University of Sheffield between 2019 and 2022.
“The behavior captured in the photo is completely against our values as an organization. We are conducting an internal legal investigation as a matter of urgency. We will cooperate fully with South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as appropriate,” a representative from River Stewardship Co stated.
Sheffield Wednesday, the club Pedrick supports, also condemned his actions:
“The club is aware of the image circulating on social media and strongly condemns this deplorable act,” a Sheffield Wednesday spokesperson said.
It is believed that Pedrick has since deleted his accounts on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn.
