Having been a free agent since his contract with Leicester City expired this summer, the Black Stars captain is making a fresh start in the Championship.

Jordan Ayew is embarking on a new chapter in his long career. The 34-year-old Ghanaian forward is set to take on a new challenge in the English second tier.

He joined Sheffield United on a free transfer on Tuesday 8 September 2026. Jordan Ayew has signed a one-season contract with the Blades. The Ghanaian will therefore represent the Championship club during the 2026–2027 season.

By signing Jordan Ayew, Sheffield United have secured the services of an experienced player. The Ghana international has played for several clubs since the start of his career. In France, Ayew played for Marseille, Sochaux and Lorient. In England, he played for Aston Villa, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

But Jordan Ayew is returning to the Championship, where he played last season for Leicester City. On his arrival at his new club, the Ghanaian expressed his enthusiasm.

"I'm really, really pleased to be here. The manager and the club made a great effort to get me here as quick as possible, so I want to thank everyone for their support and for them to bring me over to the Blades and hopefully we'll have a great season."
