Victor Osimhen Opens Up on How Defeats Affect Him: “I Become a Different Beast”
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has offered fans a rare look into his mindset, explaining how deeply defeats affect him both on and off the pitch. The Nigerian forward revealed that losses stay with him long after the match ends, often costing him sleep and pushing him to become even more intense during games.
In an interview with the Smallie YouTube channel, Osimhen spoke about his competitive nature, his struggles with losing, and the mentality that drives him.
He described just how painful defeat feels for him:
“Losing, to be honest, is very cruel. It doesn’t matter if it’s street football, a real match, the World Cup, or the Africa Cup of Nations. Even in life. People who live with me know that if I lose a match, it’s very hard for me to sleep.”
Although he understands that defeat is part of football, Osimhen admitted that accepting it emotionally remains difficult.
“Of course, it’s normal, it’s part of the game, and I have to accept it. But if I could, I would want to win every single match.”
He also explained that his desire to win brings out a different side of him whenever he steps onto the pitch.
“When I’m on the pitch, I become a completely different beast.”
The 26-year-old striker’s impact on Galatasaray has been undeniable. With five goals in 11 Turkish Super League matches this season, Osimhen has played a key role in keeping the club at the top of the table. His contributions were once again evident in their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Samsunspor on Friday, a win that reinforced Galatasaray’s dominance in the title race.
