Since 2018, VAR has been utilized in the FA Cup, but until recently, it was only applied at Premier League stadiums. That policy has now changed.

Details: According to an FA press release, starting this season, the Video Assistant Referee system will be used in all matches beginning from the fifth round (Round of 16). However, in earlier rounds—such as the third (Round of 64) and fourth (Round of 32)—VAR will not be used, even at Premier League stadiums. The FA explained that this decision ensures consistent officiating for all clubs competing in the same stage of the tournament.

Reminder: Previously, VAR was employed at Premier League venues and Wembley due to the logistical challenges of setting up the system at other grounds. Currently, VAR is used only in the Premier League and the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
