UEFA revises Euro 2026 futsal hosts: What does Belarus have to do with it?

In the winter of 2026, Latvia and Lithuania were originally set to host the UEFA Futsal European Championship. However, after recent changes by UEFA, the Baltic nations are left with only a fraction of the tournament.
Details: The Baltic states do not allow Belarusian athletes to compete on their territory, and the Belarus national team has qualified for the tournament. In a swift response, UEFA was forced to revise the list of host countries, adding Slovenia to the mix.
According to the organization's press release, Ljubljana will now stage matches for two of the four groups, two quarterfinals, both semifinals, and the final and the third-place match. Kaunas in Lithuania and Riga in Latvia will each host one group (A and B, respectively) and one quarterfinal.
Reminder: The Ukrainian federation is also considering boycotting the tournament due to Belarus's participation, though negotiations with UEFA are still ongoing. The tournament draw will take place at a later date.
