Newcastle produced a remarkable response at St James' Park to rescue a point from a seemingly lost match.

Details: Newcastle drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in the third round of the 2026/27 Premier League season, completing a comeback from two goals down thanks to a late equaliser from substitute Jacob Ramsey.

Bournemouth stunned the home crowd early on. Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring in the ninth minute, and the visitors doubled their advantage in the 35th minute when Malick Thiaw put the ball into his own net following an Alex Scott effort.

Newcastle responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Harvey Barnes pulled one back and gave the Magpies hope before the break. The hosts continued searching for the equaliser in the second half and were finally rewarded near the end of the match.

Ramsey, who had entered the game from the bench, found the net in the 88th minute to make it 2-2 and complete Newcastle's comeback. The result means the Magpies remain unbeaten after their opening three Premier League matches of the campaign.

It is worth noting that this was Jacob Ramsey's first Premier League goal of the 2026/27 season. Before the Bournemouth match, the midfielder had featured in two league games for Newcastle without registering a goal or an assist.
