Everton's chaotic deadline day could have ended with one more huge transfer.
Details: According to TEAMtalk, Everton made a late attempt to sign West Ham striker Taty Castellanos after their moves for Folarin Balogun, Joshua Zirkzee and Tammy Abraham began to collapse. The Toffees highly rated the Argentine and were prepared to make a major financial commitment to bring him to the Premier League.
Everton reportedly submitted a verbal proposal worth around £40 million plus another £5 million in add-ons. West Ham were open to discussing the transfer and would have been willing to accept the package if they could secure a suitable replacement for Castellanos.
However, Everton's approach arrived with only a few hours remaining before the transfer deadline. West Ham did not have enough time to identify and complete the signing of another striker, so the Championship club ultimately refused to sanction Castellanos' departure.
The failed move became another chapter in a difficult deadline day for Everton, whose attempts to land Balogun, Zirkzee and Abraham also failed to produce a new centre-forward. Castellanos therefore remains with West Ham. It is worth noting that the 27-year-old Argentine joined the Hammers from Lazio in January in a deal worth just under £30 million.
