Tigres Renew Interest in Luis Chávez Ahead of Apertura 2025

Tigres are once again targeting Luis Chávez, according to multiple reports, as they prepare to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2025 Apertura. The Mexican international, currently competing in the Gold Cup, is said to be at the top of head coach Guido Pizarro’s wish list.
With Rafael Carioca’s departure and Pizarro's own retirement, Chávez is seen as a vital addition to the midfield. Although no formal negotiations have begun, the club has been pursuing the midfielder for over a year, and circumstances this summer could finally tilt the deal in their favor.
Chávez has a contract with Dynamo Moscow until 2027, but the ongoing conflict in Russia and FIFA's special ruling allow players in the Russian league to terminate their contracts unilaterally. That clause, along with Russia’s exclusion from UEFA competitions, may prompt the midfielder to move on.
While his preference remains to continue in Europe, Chávez is reportedly open to returning to Liga MX if suitable offers don't emerge abroad. Tigres, who are also monitoring Miguel Borja for their attack, look to bolster their midfield with quality and experience, this represents a key opportunity.
Since joining Dynamo in 2023, Chávez has recorded seven goals and six assists in 59 appearances. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, a move back to a more visible league could help him stay firmly in the national team picture.
