Tigres Show Interest in Miguel Borja but Rule Out Obed Vargas

Tigres are keeping an eye on River Plate striker Miguel Borja as a potential signing for the Apertura 2025, according to MedioTiempo.
Borja, 32, has a contract with River that runs through December. With a transfer fee set at $4.5 million, the Argentine club could be open to a deal rather than risk losing him for free in six months. Borja is currently competing in the Club World Cup and remains a regular in Colombia’s national team, factors that add to his appeal. According to Germán García Grova, Borja has reached an agreement with Tigres regarding his personal terms.
On the other hand, 19-year-old midfielder Obed Vargas of the Seattle Sounders is not an option for Tigres. Despite his growing reputation, 15 MLS appearances this season, and involvement in the Club World Cup, the young American has been ruled out by the Mexican club’s board.
As of now, Tigres have yet to confirm any new arrivals for the upcoming tournament. However, reports continue to link them with Atlético Madrid’s Ángel Correa as a high-profile addition. In the meantime, the squad remains in California, working through preseason at the Chula Vista Elite Training center.
