The Black Princesses were outplayed by the Ecuadorians in Group C on Sunday 6 September.

Ghana’s U-20 women’s team played their first match at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which is taking place in Poland. However, the Ghanaians were outplayed by their opponents at the Arena Sosnowiec.

The Ecuadorians took control of the match from the very first half. The Ecuadorian side opened the scoring in the 4th minute to make it 1–0, before doubling their lead in the 16th minute to make it 2–0.

The Ecuadorian girls sealed their victory in the second half with a third goal in the 69th minute. They gave the Black Princesses no chance whatsoever to salvage some pride.

The Ghanaians have therefore started the tournament in Poland with a defeat. No African team has yet managed to win, following Tanzania’s 4–1 defeat on Saturday and Benin’s 2–2 draw against Mexico.
