Wijnaldum set to change clubs. New destination named for former Liverpool midfielder
Former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is close to joining another Saudi club. According to GMS, the 35-year-old Dutchman will continue his career at Al-Ittihad and is already undergoing a medical.
Wijnaldum is expected to sign a contract with his new club. However, GMS sources differ on the details of the agreement: an initial report suggests a two-year contract, while another option is a one-year deal with the possibility of an extension.
The Dutch midfielder became a free agent after his contract with Al-Ettifaq expired, having spent three seasons with the club. He made 101 appearances, scored 38 goals and provided 17 assists during his time there.
Before moving to Saudi Arabia, Wijnaldum enjoyed a successful European career. He played for Feyenoord, PSV, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as representing Roma on loan. With Liverpool, the Dutchman won the Premier League and Champions League. Wijnaldum has made 96 appearances for the Netherlands and scored 28 goals.
