Italian side Napoli could soon find itself at the heart of one of the biggest deals in global sports history. The American consortium Underdog Global Partners (UGP) has made a €2 billion offer to purchase the Neapolitan club, but current owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is not yet ready to part ways with his project.
According to AS, the group of US-based investors is seeking not just to acquire a football club, but to launch an ambitious sports project that would include infrastructure development and expansion into other sporting directions.
Despite the staggering offer, Napoli’s management gave a categorical response—the club is not for sale. However, UGP representatives remain undeterred and continue to work on the potential deal.
Reports indicate the consortium has been studying the possibility of acquiring the club for several months and is working on a long-term development strategy. The group already has sports assets in Italy: previously, the investors purchased Napoli’s basketball club and also own Campobasso.
Furthermore, UGP is considering a broader multi-sport development concept. Sources say the company intends to bid for participation in the upcoming NBA Europe project, which is expected to launch in 2027.
