In an honest interview with France Football, George Weah, the former Ballon d'Or winner and current president of Liberia, talked about how he still feels hurt by the way he left Paris Saint-Germain.
Weah, who played for PSG from 1992 to 1995, remembered his emotional goodbye at the Parc des Princes, where some fans showed "offensive" banners to protest his departure. Reflecting on his exit, Weah noted, "Supporters do whatever they want when they are not happy."
The former Liberian striker also expressed regret over the organization of his retirement match, which PSG rejected. "I called OM. They didn’t hesitate for a second and welcomed me with open arms," he said.
PSG recently sent him a shirt with his name on it and an invitation to a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven in an attempt to make apologies, but Weah stated, "I’m not mad, but I haven’t forgotten."
During his time at PSG, Weah won several national titles and the famous 1994 Ballon d'Or, cementing his place as one of Africa's best football players.
