The club treasurer claims that Zamalek is facing a debt crisis worth 1.5 billion EGP
Zamalek SC's treasurer, Hossam El Mandouh, disclosed the club's dire financial situation, with debts at previously unheard-of proportions. El Mandouh said on Zamalek TV that he was shocked by the amount and kind of the club's financial sanctions.
"The club’s debts were shocking. We found only EGP 1 million in the treasury after the elections, with frozen bank accounts and total liabilities exceeding EGP 1.5 billion," El Mandouh stated.
He detailed that overdue player salaries amounted to EGP 400 million, while international cases against the club totaled EGP 600 million. "We’ve managed to clear EGP 1.4 billion in debts, leaving only some foreign player claims unresolved," he added.
The team's participation in important events, like as the CAF Super Cup, was guaranteed by Zamalek's administration despite the financial burden. El Mandouh pointed out that the football team alone is responsible for around EGP 1 billion of the club's debts, with certain players having contracts that are extremely expensive.
