The Argentina vs Morocco match was interrupted for two hours. What was the reason?

On Wednesday, July 24, the first matches of the 2024 Olympic football tournament took place, with Argentina facing Morocco in a dramatic game.
In the 51st minute, Morocco doubled their lead, making it 2-0. However, Argentina reduced the deficit in the 68th minute. The referee added 15 minutes to the regular time, and Argentina took advantage, scoring in the 90+16th minute. It seemed as if the Albiceleste had salvaged a draw, with the referee having already blown the final whistle.
However, an hour after the match ended, VAR reviewed the incident involving Argentina’s second goal. It was subsequently determined that the goal had been scored from an offside position. Consequently, an hour after the match concluded, the goal was disallowed, and an additional three minutes of play were ordered. The match resumed two hours later, with Morocco leading 2-1. Such a situation had never occurred before in football.
Morocco held on to their slim advantage and secured a 2-1 victory in their first Olympic match.
For reference, Moroccan fans caused significant chaos following Argentina’s disallowed second goal.
