Shakhtar has announced that they will play their UCL matches at the stadium that hosts Euro 2024

For the third consecutive year, due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Shakhtar Donetsk has been unable to host European competition matches in their home country.

Today, Shakhtar announced that in the upcoming season, the team will play their Champions League matches at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, the home stadium of Schalke.

In the previous season, Shakhtar played their home matches in Hamburg, and in the 2022/23 season, they hosted opponents in Warsaw.

Shakhtar has once again been crowned champions of Ukraine and has advanced to the main round of the Champions League as the highest-ranked champion from countries without a direct entry to the competition.
