World No. 7 Hubert Hurkacz has ended his campaign at Wimbledon 2024.
The Polish tennis player was forced to retire in the second round. In his match against 20-year-old Frenchman Arthur Fils, Hurkacz was trailing 1-2 in sets. In the fourth set, the opponents reached a tiebreak, with Fils leading 9-8. However, Hurkacz was unable to continue due to a knee injury.
Fils has advanced to the Round of 16 in a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. The Frenchman is currently ranked 34th in the ATP rankings.
Fils will face the winner of the match between Tomas Machac and Roman Safiullin in the third round.
