In their latest La Liga outing, Sevilla played out a 1–1 draw against Alavés, but the match was overshadowed by a controversial incident.
Details: Sevilla head coach Matías Almeyda became embroiled in a heated dispute with the match officials. He was shown a red card, yet the matter did not end there. The Royal Spanish Football Federation launched its own investigation and delivered a verdict.
The Sevilla manager has been handed a seven-match suspension — the longest managerial ban in La Liga over the past 12 years.
Meanwhile, Sevilla are seriously considering the possibility of re-signing their 39-year-old former player Sergio Ramos. The idea emerged within the club’s hierarchy following a humiliating 4–1 defeat to Mallorca in Matchday 22 of La Liga.
Reminder: We previously reported that Sergio Ramos is leading an investment group preparing a bid to acquire Sevilla. The total value of the deal is estimated at around €400 million.
