Catalan giants Barcelona secured victory over Mallorca on home turf in Matchday 23 of the Spanish La Liga.

Midway through the first half, Robert Lewandowski latched onto a pass from Dani Olmo to break the deadlock. That goal remained the only one on the scoresheet for much of the contest. In the second half, the goals scored by Yamal and Bernal put any questions about the winner to rest.

Remarkably, this match has etched its place in Spanish football history. Mallorca became the first club against whom Barça have scored in 34 consecutive La Liga matches, a streak running since 2002.

Only Madrid’s Real and Atlético can boast longer runs. Los Blancos scored in 36 straight games against Zaragoza between 1981 and 1997, while Los Colchoneros found the net in 40 consecutive encounters against Valladolid (1948–1986).

As a reminder, following this round Barcelona will remain top of the league table. Their lead over Real Madrid stands at 4 points, though the capital side will play their fixture against Valencia on February 8.
