The Indian Premier League is on the brink of dramatic regulatory changes.
Details: According to Cricket Central, from next season, the league's management is highly likely to completely abolish the controversial “Impact Player” rule (tactical substitution during a match).

This innovation, which allowed teams to field an additional player depending on the match situation, has faced fierce opposition. The majority of the league’s franchises have come out strongly against it, arguing that the rule completely destroys the competitive balance. The ability to bring in an extra batter or bowler undermines the very structure of all-round versatility.
The situation has reached a critical point, prompting the BCCI to call an emergency meeting. On July 31, the bosses of Indian cricket will hold a major summit with all IPL club owners to put an end to the debate and make a final, official decision on scrapping the rule.
