Rafael Marquez has officially moved to the Mexican national team, where he will assist the legend

The legendary former defender Rafael Márquez has officially left his position as head coach of Barcelona B.
The Mexican Football Federation announced that Márquez will now begin working with the Mexican national team. Initially, he will assist the new head coach, Javier Aguirre, and after the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Mexico, Márquez will take over as the head coach.
This marks Aguirre's third tenure with the Mexican national team. He previously managed "El Tri" from 2009 to 2010 and from 2001 to 2002. His last job was with Mallorca, where he reached the final of the Copa del Rey last season.
The previous head coach of the Mexican national team was Jaime Lozano, under whom the team had a disappointing Copa América campaign, finishing third in their group behind Ecuador and Venezuela.
Rafael Márquez had been coaching Barcelona B since the summer of 2022.
